INTRODUCTION:
I finally met up with Angela and Anthony a couple weeks ago to do another fun engagement session together (check out their other shoot HERE). For this session Angela had some great ideas using some interesting props like blowing bubbles, foam hearts, and helium filled balloons! Stay tuned for one more mini-session with them involving the uber cute family of three Jack Russell Terriers (Olives, Pickles, and Taters).

Geena and Will flew in several weeks ago from Korea to hold their wedding at the beautiful Graydon Hall Manor in north Toronto. Both the venue and couple were gorgeous and great to work with. It was great being part of their wedding after only meeting online through Skype video conferencing! Thanks for allowing me to be part of your special day! INTRODUCTION:
Patty and Lawrence both went to school at the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) in Toronto so we decided to start off our eventful shoot in their familiar surroundings. We got some fun shots out of the buildings interesting architecture and then we proceeded to walk around the downtown core. The two of them are getting married next year at the Ontario Science Center which will definitely be a neat experience for all of us!

INTRODUCTION:
For our first engagement we went for a more green outdoors look. On our next session we wanted to include a BMX theme as it’s probably Jay’s second love after Erin of course. This actually being almost a month ago it wasn’t very cold at all but we ended up having to contend with the midday sun. Thanks Erin & Jay for hanging out with me and showing me more about the world of BMX biking.

TECHNIQUE:
Because of timing and scheduling we had to shoot early in the day. Normally the best time for photography is generally either very early in the morning or later in the day. This is so the sun isn’t so high and bright in the sky. The harsh sun actually casts unsightly shadows and “racoon-eyes” on your subjects and will be very difficult to avoid during the middle of the day. To work around this use either of these easy remedies:

1) Backlighting
2) Shooting in the shade
4) Overpowering the sun with flash
3) Wait it out!

I finally have a break from weddings and can catch up on all the photography I’ve done in the last couple months. PHEW! So here is a session from a couple weeks back on a cold October day the three of us met up for an engagement shoot at Kariya Park, a popular location in Mississauga just west of Toronto. Luckily we arrived a bit early as soon the park was filled with other couples and photographers! Looking back at these photos I am surprised at how many funny situations and shots I can put my couples through. Enjoy the photos. Looking forward to your wedding day in November!

TECHNIQUE:
To all the photographers out there I wouldn’t really consider myself too much into camera gear but I just wanted to point out that gear does matter. Spending more and getting the best money can buy, within reason, will help you save money in the long rum as you won’t be wasting time and money buying/selling/upgrading inferior equipment. For this shoot I got to play and get more hands on experience with an amazing newly acquired lens, the Canon 50mm F1.2L. Sure it’s definitely tricky and finicky to use, and it might not be worth the 4x more price difference compared to the Canon 50mm F1.4 but boy does this lens offer some very pleasing image quality! The colour and bokeh are just miles ahead of the cheaper Canon lens. This lens plus the Canon 24mm F1.4L are my workhorse lens as they are both so fun to use in 90% of the situations.
