Alison + Nic | engagement @ Dundas Square
August 6, 2009INTRODUCTION:Alison and Nic are back with another fun filled engagement session! You may remember them from their crazy escapades from a couple weeks back. For this weeks adventure we all journeyed to one of the busiest locations in Toronto - Dundas Square right outside the Eaton Center shopping mall. Nic had a crazy idea to get some night time photos of them together and I knew that the lights and displays found at Dundas Square would look just fantastic in photos. The shoot went great as it was our second time working together and Alison and Nic were just the cutest couple ever.
TECHNIQUE:To all the photographers who are just starting out with night time photography and who may be swept up completely with the awesomeness that is off-camera flash ala the fantastic Strobist tutorials. Do not be afraid to push your cameras to it’s limits and use a higher ISO setting on your camera. Today’s newer generation cameras perform very well even at the extremes and a grainy sharp photo is better than no photo at all. Also too much flash work ruins the atmosphere and natural unposed nature of your subject matter. Not to say that great off camera portraiture cannot be done. Just check out my own fashion photos. Just don’t focus too much on the technical nature of photography and concentrate on your couples and their interaction together which is key is people photography.
