Introduction:
It’s been a VERY busy few weeks for me and I am just catching up on some editing. You may recognize Lindsay and Scott from a couple shoots ago. They made the trip to Toronto a few weekends ago for a weekend vacation from Kingston Ontario and decided to do a quick fun shoot here in the city. We ended up venturing far from the city and photographing in the woods/backyard/parkland in the Foresthill community. It was great seeing them again even though we only had a brief photo session together. There wedding in August is quickly approaching! Can’t wait…

Introduction:
After some long planning we were able to finally do a shoot with Erin and Jay’s for their engagement session. Their wedding isn’t until next year but it was great to get to know them more on a personal one to one level and to see how we interact as a team. I think despite the gloomy/sunny/rainy weather we had a great time and got some fantastic results as always. We did the photo session in some outdoorsy green fields in Markham and got some unique results compared to the urban Toronto landscapes. While out in the grassy fields I got bit/stung by a bug and now I have giant “Popeye arms”! :P

Introduction:
This weekend some friends and I participated in the Canadian Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” event in Toronto. Our team raised over $2000 to support cancer research this year as we took part in the 12-hour outdoor relay/camping event. It was my first time really camping outdoors and it was surprisingly cold outside in the middle of the night. I think we all had a lot of fun taking part in the activities like walking the track, dodgeball, volleyball, cookie-decorating, movie watching, and free food eating! It was definitely a night to remember. Below are some photo highlights of the day. Thanks again to all who supported “Team Mophia”!

Introduction:
Debbie and Jason are a fantastic couple that I met a couple of weeks ago. Like most of my couples they are young, super cute, and have fantastic chemistry together. We decided to do a shoot in the Distillery District located in the east end of downtown Toronto. A neat aspect of this engagement session was that we were working with another videographer, Norris from Norris Films, and photographer, Vincent from VA-Photography. Both seemed very professional at what they were doing and I can’t wait to see their results! Later in the day I was joined by my photography associate John who’s always great at lending a hand. The neatest part about the day was that we didn’t really shoot in the Distillery too much and that most of my favourite photos came in areas that were not in the same old area where hundreds of other wedding photographers flock to on the weekends.

Technique:This shoot had lots of exciting challenges for us to overcome and I am very pleased with some of our results. One of the main and most daunting obstacles of the day was the glaring midday sun. In order to avoid nasty contrasty shadows on our subjects I tried to position Debbie and Jason in either the shade, in “magic light”, or we waited till the sun set a bit. Sometimes I feel less and less like a photographer and more and more like a person who looks for interesting light!

I am a participating in this year’s Relay for Life event for the Canadian Cancer Society and am offering my photography services for free with a small meaningful donation. Not only will you be supporting a good cause helping us fight back cancer but you will get some beautiful and memorable images of you and your special someone! My unique style blends my fashion and photojournalism background to create images that make you stand out, yet tell an intimate story between the couple. You can take a look at my portfolio on my website here: www.spencerfu.com. I can offer up to three hours of my services for engagement or couple photography for a small $100 donation. It’s now even easier to donate online and get a tax receipt right away! Feel free to email me for more details and to schedule in a session. I would love to be able to do hundreds of these but due to the busy summer wedding season limited spots are available. My Pledge Page
