Introduction:
Debbie and Jason are a fantastic couple that I met a couple of weeks ago. Like most of my couples they are young, super cute, and have fantastic chemistry together. We decided to do a shoot in the Distillery District located in the east end of downtown Toronto. A neat aspect of this engagement session was that we were working with another videographer, Norris from Norris Films, and photographer, Vincent from VA-Photography. Both seemed very professional at what they were doing and I can’t wait to see their results! Later in the day I was joined by my photography associate John who’s always great at lending a hand. The neatest part about the day was that we didn’t really shoot in the Distillery too much and that most of my favourite photos came in areas that were not in the same old area where hundreds of other wedding photographers flock to on the weekends.
Technique:This shoot had lots of exciting challenges for us to overcome and I am very pleased with some of our results. One of the main and most daunting obstacles of the day was the glaring midday sun. In order to avoid nasty contrasty shadows on our subjects I tried to position Debbie and Jason in either the shade, in “magic light”, or we waited till the sun set a bit. Sometimes I feel less and less like a photographer and more and more like a person who looks for interesting light!
