Update (it’s about time!): Yearbook Photography
November 26, 2008So I know I have been neglecting this photo blog for a while. But I haven’t really had a chance to take many model/fashion photos recently. What I have been doing is shooting tons for the Queen’s Tricolour Yearbook. You should grab a yearbook! You probably already paid for it. We’re located in the dark dungeons of the lower JDUC. Past the lockers near the PC&CC. Yearbook photography is a lot different than I am used to (portraiture) and I didn’t know what to expect going in. So far it seems to be a lot of fun as it is exciting not know what you will be able to take photos of and not having total control of the lighting and compositional elements of the photo. One of the books I borrowed from our yearbook office is Photo Journalism The Professionals’ Approach. It’s a pretty detailed and useful book that attempts to teach you how to approach a job and what details in the foreground and background you should be looking for to “tell a story”. I highly recommend this book for beginners in photo journalism.
Anyways Here are some of my favourites from the year so far:
